With over 3000 kilometres of shoreline, the Atlas Mountain range and the Saharan south, Morocco has a landscape for every taste! In the winter, the mountains are covered in snow, and there are incredible slopes for skiing. In the summer months the shore is also activity rich. Hiking, trekking, paragliding, skiing, mountain biking, horseback riding, surfing, one thing is for sure, you won’t be sitting around in Morocco wondering what to do!
Less than an hour away from Marrakech, discover the Oukaïmeden peaks (3200m)! On the agenda: skiing, hiking, paragliding, and hang gliding. To get there take the road to Setti Fetma in the direction of the Ourika Valley. This road will also allow you to reach the Jebel Toubkal National Park and its beautiful wild landscapes that it would be a shame to miss!
In the heart of the Middle Atlas, go off to discover Ifrane, a little mountain station engulfed in forests of cedar, maple and oak trees. In the winter, you can tackle the Michlifen slopes at 2100 metres in altitude. The rest of the year, hike through the natural park and soak in the sights of its rapids, waterfalls, lakes and ponds…
Next, choose between uncovering the mysteries of the Todra Gorges or the Taghia mountain circus, in the heart of the High Atlas Mountains. Many trails will lead you to the feet of the vertical Todra cliffs along the top of their deep canyons. Morocco’s best rock climbing is to be found here.
When hiking through the Atlas gorges, don’t miss a climb up the steep slopes of mount M’Goun. After walking for five hours, you’ll reach the peak, the region’s highest point (4071m). From here, you’ll have an extended view over the Anti Atlas Mountains and the Saharan plains. Descend towards the Oulilimt spring, a magnificent site perfect for a night in a bivouac at 2550m in altitude.

Beach lovers travelling down the Atlantic Coast will naturally head to El Jadida and Safi. Every year, this region attracts both amateur and professional surfers in droves. Between the two cities, Oualidia’s lagoon is a paradise for aquatic sports: water-skiing, wake-boarding, jet-skiing, windsurfing, SCUBA diving, canoeing, the list goes on…
Further south, make your way to Essaouira, where the beach stretches out on either side of the city as far as the eye can see with magnificent views over the ocean all along. Swept by the trade winds, this is also a favourite site for surfers. It is also an ideal place for a seaside horseback ride or mountain bike tour!
At the gates of the Western Sahara, discover Dakla’s many charms! A haven of peace on a thing peninsula between ocean and lagoon. This city has also made a name for itself as one of the world’s best places to ride a wave. Hundreds of kilometres of desert beaches extend north of the city!
